Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about our services, insurance, costs, and what to expect at Smile Avenue Family Dentistry.

General

We have two offices — Cypress (9212 Fry Rd #120, Cypress, TX 77433) and Katy (23541 Westheimer Pkwy Ste #170, Katy, TX 77494). Both serve the greater Houston area.

Both offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. Saturday hours are available at the Katy location (8am–2pm).

We reserve time daily for urgent cases so you're never left waiting in pain.

We treat patients of all ages — from toddlers to seniors. Our team includes pediatric and geriatric dental expertise.

¡Sí! Hablamos Español. We have bilingual team members at both locations to ensure every patient feels comfortable and understood.

Insurance & Payment

We accept most major PPO dental insurance plans including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Delta Dental, MetLife, United Healthcare, Guardian, and Humana. Our team will verify your benefits before your visit — no surprise bills.

Bone grafting can rebuild jawbone density to support an implant. We handle bone grafting in-house, and it's a routine procedure that adds a few months to the overall timeline.

Yes. Through CareCredit and Sunbit, you can apply for 0% interest financing in minutes — right from your phone. Our team will help you find the best option.

Most patients experience little to no discomfort. If you have sensitivity, we can adjust our technique or use numbing agents.

Dental Implants

A single dental implant typically costs $3,000–$5,000 including the crown. A full set of dentures ranges from $1,000–$3,000. However, implants last much longer and don't require ongoing adjustments, making them more cost-effective over time.

Most adults with good general health are candidates. Adequate jawbone density is needed, but bone grafting can address deficiencies. We'll determine your eligibility during the consultation.

With proper care, dental implants can last 25 years or more — many last a lifetime. The implant post itself is made of titanium, which fuses permanently with your jawbone through a process called osseointegration.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Dental anxiety is a general uneasiness about dental visits. Dental phobia (odontophobia) is an intense, irrational fear that may cause people to avoid the dentist entirely for years, even when in pain. Both are treatable.

Professional whitening results typically last 6–12 months depending on your diet and habits. We provide take-home trays for touch-ups to maintain your results.

Absolutely! We offer comprehensive smile design consultations to create a custom plan that may include veneers, whitening, bonding, Invisalign, and more.

Emergency Care

Severe toothache, knocked-out tooth, broken tooth, lost filling or crown, swelling, abscess, uncontrolled bleeding, or jaw injury. When in doubt, call us.

Call ahead for the fastest service, but we never turn away genuine emergencies.

Do NOT try to reimplant a baby tooth — this can damage the developing permanent tooth underneath. Control any bleeding with gentle pressure, apply a cold compress for swelling, and call your dentist.

Invisalign & Orthodontics

Costs vary based on case complexity. We offer free consultations, flexible financing, and help maximize insurance benefits.

Most adult Invisalign treatments take 6–18 months, depending on the complexity of the case. Simple spacing issues may take as little as 6 months, while more complex alignment issues may take 12–18 months.

Yes! Invisalign Teen is designed specifically for adolescents, with compliance indicators and replacement aligners for active lifestyles.

Sedation Dentistry

Multiple sedation levels available for complete comfort.

Yes. When administered by trained professionals with proper monitoring, dental sedation is very safe. We review your complete medical history before recommending any sedation.

It depends on the sedation level you choose. Nitrous oxide keeps you relaxed but awake. Oral sedation makes you drowsy. IV sedation puts you in a twilight state where you're unlikely to remember the procedure.
